Training

IPF-Kenya undertakes training programmes on various aspects of public finance in collaboration with partners. The training programmes are specially tailored to the needs of the participants and deal with specific themes. These training are targeted at County Government’s officers (Executive and Assembly) State corporations, Ministries and Departments and GOK Agencies and persons interested in Public Finance Management.

The Institute has continuously engaged with other sector players in furthering the objects of open Public Finance. These engagements include;

  • The Institute was the Co-host of Equity Week Forum 2018 in Kenya that ran from 22 – 26 October 2018. The week-long summit is usually aimed at promoting reflections that highlight issues of equity in resource distribution in Kenya by fostering a broad-based conversation about how resources are shared not only at national and county level, but across counties and within counties.
  • August 2018 – September 2018 – Consultant – Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevolkerung (DSW) – conducted a budget study on reproductive health and family planning within eleven (11) counties in Kenya.
  • May 2018- September 2018 – Consultant – Oxfam in Kenya – Review of public participation policies from gender perspective with a view of incorporating gender responsive budgeting.
  • July 2018 – Lead Consultant – Oxfam in Kenya – development of training curriculum on budgeting in Kenya for use by Nairobi County Ward Administrators and deploying a three days training on the same.
  • July 2018 – Lead Consultant – Society of Clerks at the Table (SOCCAT)- Training of County Assemblies Research officers on the public finance landscape in Kenya.
  • April 2016 to present- Lead Consultant, Open Budget Survey (OBS) 2017; Reviewing of Kenya government performance in budget transparency, public participation with a focus on national treasury, Legislature and Supreme Audit Institution
  • Lead Consultant-Jan-Feb 2018- African Women’s Development and Communications Network (FEMNET)- County Level budget training in Turkana and Kisumu Counties focusing on Gender Transformational budgeting
  • Lead Consultant-Jan- 2018- Public Finance Management Induction for Lamu County Assembly
  • Lead Consultant- Malaria No More Kenya- October-December 2017- Public Finance Management induction for Kwale, Kilifi, Busia and Mombasa County Assemblies
  • July 2017- June 2018 – International Budget Partnership- County Government, Citizens and organized interest groups engagement in budget process in Kwale County.
  • February 2017- March 2017- Kenya NGOs Alliance Against Malaria (KeNAAM)- Consultancy in Malaria Investment at Sub-national level in Kilifi, Kisumu and Uasin Gishu counties.
  • October 2016- April 2017- Malaria No More- Review and training of county level CSO’s and government technical teams in Busia and Kwale counties on budgeting process.
  • October 2016- November 2016- Malaria No More- Review, analysis and documentation of health budget in Busia and Kwale Counties for the period 2013-2017.
  • August 2016- July 2017- Implementation of Making All Voices Count, Building a Better Budget through Citizen-Government. A project supporting citizens engagement in the budget process
  • July 2016- June 2017 – International Budget Partnership- Citizens and Organized Interest groups engagement in budget process in Kwale County.
  • May 2016- February 2017- Center for International Private Enterprises, Support to Makueni County on citizen engagement in budget process.
  • May 2016, Article 19 – Training on water regulatory authorities on Budget processes and public participation at the county level, Embu, Kenya.
  • May 2016, KCA University (Institute for Capacity Development) – Training for Members of County Assemblies and State corporations Budget and Finance Officers, Mombasa, Kenya.
  • April 2016, World Vision (Samburu ADP) – Training for Samburu County government on budget preparations and Public participation, Samburu, Kenya.
  • February 2016, World Vision (Isiolo ADP) – Training for Isiolo County Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee on County Budget analysis, Nanyuki, Kenya.
  • Review of Mombasa and Makueni Financial Year 15/16 water budget allocations by WALINET- November- December 2015.
  • April 2015- May 2016, Supporting institutional capacity of Kwale and Makueni County Assemblies Budget Offices.
